What does sustainable home decor look like in 2021? It's an eclectic combination of vintage decor mixed with fair-trade items, reclaimed wood furniture, organic cotton bedding, recycled steel and glass fixtures, and live plants. Best of all, you don't have to sacrifice style to make your home more eco-friendly. Today more than ever, brands are stepping up to the plate and offering consumers sustainable decor options for their homes.
Fortunately, I've rounded up some of my favorite ethically sourced home goods that blend style and sustainability without compromising comfort and design. I think you will agree that these fab finds are aesthetically pleasing and their designs would be suitable for a variety of interior decor styles. You don't have to be on a mission to immediately outfit your home with eco-friendly and sustainable furniture pieces and decor. You can start with a few indoor friendly plants that are easy to maintain and will spruce up your family room with color and life. When you are ready for something new, add an accent piece or two that will make you feel happy and relaxed when you enter the room. The Sustainably Sourced Channel Back Chair above adds sophisticated style and a touch of drama. The Abstract Rug is hand-tufted, made in India, and has a recycled backing. The Delilah table lamp with cotton shade glows with contemporary style in a family room or bedroom.
When you figure that we spend 1/3 of our life sleeping, it only makes sense to create a space that is conducive to rest and relaxation. Take the time to design a healthy and sleep-friendly environment with 100% organic cotton bedding made in a Fair Trade Certified facility. The Ladder Stripe Coverlet & Shams shown above are super soft and rich in texture. The Nightstand with Antique Brass Accents is bright and glamorous and made with sustainable mahogany which is legally and ethically sourced. Paper & Clay vases are designed with usability in mind. The purchase of these hand-crafted, cheery vases helps support small businesses. If you are doing a major remodel, consider greener and healthier options that are available in flooring. Flooring is a significant investment during any upgrade and bamboo is both sustainable and widely available. Cork is also an excellent choice if you have children and want to dampen sound. Bamboo and cork flooring also improve indoor air quality when compared to carpeting.
Your kitchen is the heart of the home so why not style it with sustainable pieces that are not only friendly to the environment but also reflect your love of the sea. The blue single pendant is made from recycled glass and the blue and white power loom rug is soft to the touch, fully reversible, and made with recycled plastic straws! Lastly, add a splash of nautical charm to your kitchen with a classic wooden sailboat. Note: The single pendant stock above is running low. You can find similar blue pendant lighting made from recycled glass here and an Environmentally Preferable Certified Sustainable pendant here. Sale price: $74.
Transform your bath into a spa-like retreat with a minty eucalyptus plant, fluffy organic cotton towels, and a bathrobe. A hand-woven organic water hyacinth basket adds natural and organic texture to your bath while a toxin-free & fragrance-free soap in a recycled glass bottle reminds you of your commitment to a green and clean home.
Your home is your sanctuary.
Make it as clean and green as possible.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are trying to be eco-friendly. It really is a lifestyle and the more you are aware, the easier it becomes to live green and it will feel unnatural when you don't.

I have wanted to redecorate my house. But that hasn't happened and probably won't until the kids move out. They leave too much of their stuff every where.....lol. I love the farmhouse look and want to add things that fit that theme eventually. Hopefully, I can find recycled items or eco-friendly decor when I'm ready.
