Who doesn't love the thrill of shopping? The excitement of scoring a deal or finding the perfect dress that flatters your figure can have you grinning ear to ear. Am I right? But what if I told you that fast fashion is wreaking havoc on the environment? You may or may not be aware that the fashion industry as a whole is contributing more to the world's carbon budget than aeronautical and shipping industries combined! It's insane if you really think about it. That's why Style, Decor & More has recently made the shift to promoting sustainable fashion. We need to love clothes in a way that doesn't create huge amounts of waste and pollution.
How can you reduce your fashion carbon footprint? There are many ways to become a responsible shopper. Repurpose and wear clothing you already have and shop secondhand stores and online sites like ThredUp are just some of the ways you can have a positive impact on the environment. Shopping for clothing that is responsibly sourced and sustainable is also better for the planet. If you are just beginning to familiarize yourself with sustainable shopping, we are sharing some of our favorite pieces below. These are must-have pieces that are meant to last and bring years of enjoyment.
Packable EcoPlume Puffer Jacket. Stay cozy and warm while facing the elements. Quilting and smocked side panels accentuate the shapely silhouette of this hooded puffer jacket. Insulated with lightweight EcoPlume fill that's made from recycled plastic bottles, this high-neck outerwear is easy to pack down and layer with other closet essentials. Also available in a gorgeous blue and black colors.
The Liza High Straight Jean ($98) is sustainably made in Los Angeles with 69% Organically Grown Cotton and 30% TENCEL. It's a high rise, stretch jean with a straight leg and finished hem.
Last but not least, my favorite is the Chantelle Dress ($298). This stunning dress is sustainably made in LA of 100% silk. It is midi-length and slim-fitting throughout with a draping bodice and high slit.
See, shopping responsibly can help the planet and still give you the amazing rush of wearing something new. Sustainable items will last longer, too!
Happy shopping!
