The holidays are over and if you're like me, you are probably thinking about starting to eat healthy again. I overindulged during the holidays and I really need to get back on track. Sounds simple enough, right? Unfortunately, there are still plenty of cookies and chocolates left over, and late in the evening when my sweet tooth kicks in, I can't resist the temptation of a tasty treat.
Well, I've found a healthy way to fight the never-ending battle of craving a sweet treat every night. This treat will leave you feeling full and satisfied, too! Its Yonanas Classic Healthy Dessert Maker. It is an ice cream dessert maker that uses frozen fruit to make soft serve ice cream. Yonanas has the texture and taste of ice cream, but all you are eating is FRUIT! No milk. No sugar. Nothing, but fruit!
The Yonanas Classy Healthy Dessert Maker could not be easier to use! Simply freeze your fruit at least 24 hours in advance. Bananas will work best when they are "cheetah spotted" before freezing. The more brown spots the sweeter the taste. When the bananas are ripe, simply peel and freeze! (I slice my bananas before freezing.) Thaw frozen fruit for about 7-10 minutes. Be sure to mix bananas and berries as you are placing chunks of fruit into the chute. This will give your ice cream a uniform color. Push the plunger down and voila, you're making a fresh ice cream treat! Clean up is very easy as the chute-dispenser is removable for easy cleaning.
The recipe possibilities are endless and can be designed to fit diet restrictions too! If you are on a low-carb diet, berries are a popular choice as they are low in carbohydrates.
No bananas? No problem. Bananas are what will give ice cream a creamy texture. If you do not use bananas, you can still enjoy a tasty sherbert-like sorbet as shown above! I used cherries and strawberries to create this magnificent treat that will satisfy my sweet tooth!
I'm having fun experimenting with different frozen fruits and healthy toppings! Yesterday, I made simple banana ice cream with no other fruit, and garnished one with walnuts and the other with chia seeds! Yum! Could you imagine trying to eat a whole banana and a handful of walnuts and saying 'Yum!?' Probably not. But when you eat it in the form of ice cream, it really does taste soooo much better!
If I had small children, I would definitely make delicious fruit popsicles. Simply spoon the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze!

Those look so good! I love ice cream, but it's so bad for me. This could definitely be my replacement. I'll have to check this bad boy out.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way, Stacie! I can't eat regular ice cream. Even if you are a low-carb person, you can have it with berries alone! It's awesome and so versatile for all types of diets!
