Are you college bound this fall? If you are, I'm sure you've already seen or been told how little your dorm room will be. Yes, dorm rooms are very small and organization is essential to staying sane. Making the most of every inch of space is key to controlling clutter.
When it comes to your study area, keep your desk organized and stay on task with functional and stylish desk accessories! Being clutter-free means there will be fewer distractions. A container to hold pencils & scissors, a stapler, desktop organizer and file storage, are just some of items you will need to keep accessible. Also, many dorms have poor lighting, so task lighting will be necessary for written assignments.
Pottery Barn has an amazing selection of colorful desktop accessories to keep organized. It is definitely worth checking it out! I've included a few of my favorite best-dressed desks here, but there are many more!
In the image below, the work space serves double duty as a vanity table too!
Make efficient use of space by stacking items vertically whenever possible. In the image below, item #2 is stacked on item #1 and creates more space on the desk.
Getting ready for college can be overwhelming, but if you maximize your space and stay organized, you'll be off to a good start and have a great school year!
[Unrelated Afterthought]
I discovered this Notebook/Laptop Lock today and didn't even know they existed! I know it is not related to organization, but it was too cool not to share! I need to get one of these for my daughter! :)
Update: Style, Decor reader, Marien, commented that her daughter's laptop was stolen at school and wishes she would have purchased a laptop lock. Please see comments below.
I never thought to look at Pottery Barn. Their desk and storage supplies are awesome! Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteThe laptop lock is ESSENTIAL! My daughter's room mate got her laptop stolen out of their dorm room when they let a 'local' spend the night. In the morning -- pouf! the laptop was gone. Of course, their guest knew nothing about it (yeah, right!). Lesson learned the hard way! A laptop lock would have prevented the theft. You can take the lock to the library, Starbucks, or any other place and just loop the lock around a chair. They would have to steal the chair and the laptop that way : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for your valuable input, Marien! I will be picking up one of these for my daughter.
DeleteI love these desk accessories! I want them all!
ReplyDeleteAll those desk accessories look so pretty. My daughter is staying home to attend college, but she could still use them on her desk at home. I never thought about needing a laptop lock. My daughter spends a lot of time at the library in between classes.
