It's a Thornton Thanksgiving In Chicago! {GUEST POST!}

I love this time of year when the leaves change colors and the temperature starts to drop. It means that winter is just around the corner, and with it will come the holiday season. It means that it is time to start planning for Thanksgiving, which is my favorite holiday of the year. The thing I love the most about Thanksgiving is that it is a holiday that exists to allow us to show our gratitude for all the gifts we are fortunate enough to possess in our lives. One thing I am thankful for is that we are having a big family gathering here at the Thornton house this Thanksgiving.

Since I am doing the cooking for this Thanksgiving feast, I have been looking to find as many recipes as I can to make it a memorable meal. I have been finding lots of ideas for fun festive appetizers and desserts on Pinterest. I am fortunate this year to have the help of my three little ones. This means that I have been looking for some simple recipes so that they can help me out this year without making too big of a mess.

For me, it is very important that the traditional Thanksgiving dishes are served. That means that I will be of course serving turkey, stuffing, taters with gravy and cranberry sauce. However, I also think that it is important to add some variety to any meal, and I am therefore making use of some new and exciting recipes that I found to spice up the Thanksgiving dinner this year!

I found a really fun article on Gogobot shares that what five luxury hotels are doing for their guests on Thanksgiving. One of these dishes in particular really caught my eye. It is a scrumptious pumpkin soup accented by lobster. It sounds absolutely decadent, and I definitely think that it is within my cooking abilities. I am so excited to tell my guests that I am serving them a pumpkin soup that is the same as guests eat at the fancy Waldorf Astoria in Orlando. It is a rich, nourishing and delicious soup that I think will blow my guests away.

I have so many things that I am grateful for in my life, and I really appreciate the chance to celebrate a family holiday that makes it appropriate for me to express my gratitude publicly. Here at the Thornton house, we have a wonderful family tradition for Thanksgiving that always warms my heart when we do it.

As we are gathered around the table for our feast, we all get the opportunity to take a turn to say the things we are thankful for this year. We all have to say at least one thing, and this is always the most special moment of our Thanksgiving celebrations. I hope that you will add this Thornton tradition to your Thanksgiving meal this year. Have a wonderful holiday surrounded by your family and friends.
