I was given the wonderful opportunity to review BaByliss PRO's Ceramic Tools Professional Curling Iron with a 1 1/2" barrel. A 1 1/2" barrel, while large, is the easiest way to create loose curls. If you want a tight ringlet-type curl, then you should go with a smaller barrel. I personally prefer the curls I create with a larger barrel and find that it works better on my bangs too.
The first thing I noticed about BaByliss PRO was the wide range of temperature settings. There are 25 heat settings up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit! The wide range of temperatures means that it's safe for all types of hair. If you have very fine hair, you will want to start with 250 degrees Fahrenheit and find the setting that works for you. Since I have very thick, coarse hair, I started with 370 and found that 385 degrees Fahrenheit works great for my hair.
Some of my favorite features of this curling iron are: 1) it heats up quickly, 2) the bright red indicator button lets me know when it is off (there is a bright green button flashing when it is on), 3) a 9' swivel cord (freedom!), and 4) a stay-cool tip!
The ceramic barrel technology leaves my hair soft, shiny, and frizz-free by emitting negative ions that close the cuticle layer, smooth and defrizz. Because the barrel is ceramic, it also distributes heat evenly, which is safer and healthier for my hair! Even coarse hair like mine feels smoother.
