ReplyDeleteThe funniest Thanksgiving was when my dad was joking with me and told me my mom wears army boots and I said to him that his mother wears Spandex and my grandmother said "I do! All the time.". Milk flew out my dad's nose.
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable thanksgiving was my first that I did at home... almost everything turned out horrible, i had a newborn and it was a mess but there are certainly a lot of laughs looking back!

ReplyDeleteThat's an easy one. 4 years ago on Thanksgiving I woke up to my water breaking and spent all day in labor, Finally had him at 8:07pm and my family brought me leftovers. I had been so looking forward to getting my grub on that day and to miss all that food was heartbreaking but all worth it in the end ;)

ReplyDeleteMy dad would always say a huge prayer before the meal and we would all take a turn thanking God for our blessings. It reminded me to be grateful for all I have in life. I am truly blessed. Lolli S
ReplyDeleteThe year grandma almost killed(well not killed,but we felt like dyin')us cooking a turkey she must have forgotten about that she had in the freezer....remember back in the day we all had those huge white freezers in the garage full of stuff we sortof' forget about.....My grandma was not one of those that you could say "this tastes funny" to and not get swatted...

don't have any memories that impacted my life cos i only had one thanksgiving party, that was last year just my mom with my cousins having a dinner. but im hoping to make one! ;)
ReplyDeleteI would wake up to my house smelling amazing! My mom already cooking her big feast for all the family that would come..I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI was making whipped cream with the electric mixer. I had just lifted the bowl when my sister walked in the kitchen. The metal bowl slipped out of my hand, hit the floor, bounced and my sister was covered in whip cream, literally from head to toe!

When my grandmother was alive the whole family got together and no everyone goes there own way
ReplyDeleteWhen all the family would get together....that was before several have died.
ReplyDeleteMost memorable Thanksgiving ever ... was spent with my Father. After a Massive Heart Attack, I'm thankful his health returned (even if it was for just a few days). It gave us some more time together. He died shortly thereafter - on December 10th. He died at the age of 51 years old. Very blessed to have had him with me on that Thanksgiving Day (and the time I had thereafter).

ReplyDeleteI can remember the first Thanksgiving meal I cooked, the breaker blew and we had to find an electrician on Thanksgiving Day to fix it. My potatoes were runny and my green bean cassarole didnt turn out. But at least our family was all together.

ReplyDeleteThe Thanksgiving memory that seems to come up the most often is the first time my husband tried to carve a turkey, of course it was at the first Thanksgiving at our house, with all the inlaws, siblings and cousins and kids in attendance. We had this spiffy little electric carving knife, watched a how-to youtube video, and thought we had it all figured out. But in the end it was a mangled, shredded horror show of a bird. We made a lot of sandwiches after Thanksgiving '06.

ReplyDeleteThe one Thanksgiving that sticks in my memory is right after we had our frontroom remodeled with new flooring, walls, new furniture, bar, deco, etc. We set up a table in the center of our new frontroom and I went shopping for matching dinner/serving plates, tablecloth and candles, as this would be the first Thanksgiving dinner that we could sit together with our children in a nice setting and enjoy each other's company ~ we were ALL thankful for that wonderful day!

ReplyDeleteThanksgiving weekend was my parents' wedding anniversary. I hated that they would go away for the weekend every year, so my grandmother decided to make it our Christmas cookie baking weekend! From there on out, I couldn't wait for my parents to leave so we could bake, just Grandma and me. ... Until my cousins joined us a few years later.

But if I dont Im still thankful for all the support I have had from family and friends who have picked my family up and help mend all the broke pieces of our lives, We are very Thankful to them for standing with us during the hardest 3 years we have ever faced:)
